West Side United Methodist Church, in conjunction with Boy Scout Venturing Crew 192, is proud to be a host site for Angel Food Ministries, a non-profit, non-denominational organization that provides grocery relief by enabling people to purchase low cost, quality food monthly. There are no memberships, forms or income limitations.
A hand up, not a hand out; Angel Food Ministries is both a bargain and a blessing. With many diverse menu choices that change each month, meats, vegetables, fruit, dry goods, eggs & milk can be purchased for approximately 50% less than in stores.
Angel Food offers a $30.00 “basic box”, which includes a variety of meats and grocery items, a $28.00 “senior box” of ready cooked, heat-and-serve meals as well as a selection of “specials” that vary between meat selections and fruit & vegetable combinations. There is no limit to the number of items one can purchase.
With few exceptions for holidays, food is picked up at West Side on the last Saturday of the month. Participants arrive at their designated time slots and proceed through our “drive-thru” pick up system. Food is loaded into cars by the Boy Scouts and volunteers. There is always a “drive-thru” re-order station for the next month which is convenient and allows for one trip per month.
For those who are new to the program or who didn’t re-order on distribution day, volunteers are set up in the church office on two pre-determined days/evenings to take orders. Cash, money orders or food stamps are accepted and are due upon ordering. We cannot accept checks. The receipts given are required for the pick up.
Anyone interested can contact us at 973-770-0155 or 973-770-0333 to get the current menu, local order dates & deadlines or any general information. To learn more about Angel Food Ministries you can log onto www.angelfoodministries.com.
