Missions
We are a work in progress
Interfaith Hospitality Network: working with the Sparta UMC and other Methodist churches in the area we help provide for homeless families to stay overnight for a week. The site for their stay is provided by the Sparta Church. West Side is involved supplying breakfast and dinner and helping with activities for the families. The churches involved in this effort are assigned duties on a rotating basis.
Food Pantry: STP, Save The People: Please visit the STP page here at this site
Thrift Shop: Please visit the Thrift Shop page here at this site
Through the Thrift Shop and STP West Side reaches many families on an intermittent basis, as well as their regular service.
Lakeland Association of Churches: Through an association of the churches around Lake Hopatcong, West Side is able to provide small amounts of funds and other items to families in need.
Habitat For Humanity: The Habitat program works to build new housing or renovate existing homes for persons who would otherwise be unable to afford to purchase their own house. Volunteers from churches and many others in the county provide the labor, along with the prospective owner to build each house. For more information and to volunteer assistance, including time, finances, materials, items, or expertise, please contact the Sussex County office for Habitat for Humanity in Newton. (P.O. Box 502, Newton, NJ 07860 - 973 383 8882)
Through contributions to UMC, West Side supports the work of Methodist Global Ministries. See Links for more information about Global Ministries.
Blessed so that we can be a blessing to others.
